The 3-Day Effect (2021)

Film- 9min
“The 3-day effect “is a journey that invades emotion, body, mind, and temporarily affects memory, making it unable to accommodate all the inputs of the surrounding environment and causing events to become unclear, after time turns into a dream or intuition.
The footage of this film was taken in a remote mountainous area as an exploratory tour that lasts for days, in which the person moves towards the unknown, the mind transits between consciousness and subconsciousness, and is transferred to alternating batches on different journeys of perception. In this journey, thoughts and feelings merge at a point where the sense of time and space disappears.
The accompanying texts are inspired by the manuscripts and writings of monks who lived the experience of isolation - in the same mountainous area in which this film was shot - and left us their experience in the form of texts. El Feky found these writings through a three-year research experience that ended with accessing an ancient monastery library located in that remote area and having conversations and meetings with one of the monks in charge. She poses her question to the monks as well as to herself and sees herself in their stories through which their goals unite in a single spiritual endeavor.
